Navy sailor’s body found hanging from fan in hotel room

Dehradun. A sailor working in the Navy died under suspicious circumstances in a hotel in Vikasnagar.
The body of the person, originally a resident of Punjab, has been kept in the mortuary by the police and the relatives have been informed. The police will conduct the post-mortem only after the relatives arrive. In the prima facie investigation of the police, the case is being said to be a suicide.
Saurav Sharma (22), son of Praveen Kumar, posted as a sailor in the Indian Navy, resident of Maharajpur Post Jarauli District Gurdaspur (Punjab), booked a room at Hotel Neeraj Palace Chakrata Road Vikasnagar on Friday. He went to the hotel room at 11 am on Friday morning. Since then he has not come out. On Saturday, the hotel staff informed Chowki Bazaar about this. Told that an attempt was made to wake up the person staying in the hotel room by calling out, but he did not open the door.
On the instructions of Kotwal Sanjay Kumar, outpost in-charge market Vivek Bhandari along with the police force reached the hotel and with the help of the hotel staff, got the door of the room opened. Inside the room, Saurav was hanging from the fan by making a noose of bedsheet. The police brought him down with the help of hotel staff. The police informed Saurabh’s relatives about the incident.
According to outpost in-charge Bazaar, Saurav was posted in the Navy as a sailor in Navy Nagar, Mumbai. It is not clear what purpose he came here for. On the phone, the relatives told that Saurav had a flight to Mumbai, but how did he come to Vikasnagar.
