Neeraj Chopra created history in javelin throw, became world champion

Pakistan’s Ashraf Nadeem finishes second in World Athletics Championships 2023

New Delhi. India’s star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra created history by winning the gold medal at the World Athletics Championships 2023. Neeraj has won gold medal for the first time in this competition. Neeraj achieved a second throw of 88.17m in his second attempt, which no other athlete could cross. Last time Neeraj had finished second and had to settle for a silver medal.
Neeraj started with a foul in the final. However, in his second attempt, Neeraj made a strong comeback with a second throw of 88.17m, which could not be crossed by any player till the sixth attempt, thus winning gold for India once again with the Golden Arm.
Apart from achieving a distance of 88.17m in the final, Neeraj Chopra also managed 86.32m in his third attempt, 84.64m in his fourth attempt, 87.73m in his fifth attempt and 83.98m in his sixth attempt.
Neeraj was followed by Pakistan’s Ashraf Nadeem who cleared a distance of 87.82 metres. In this way, Nadeem won the silver medal in the World Championship. After the finals were over, Neeraj congratulated Nadeem with a hug.
On the other hand, Neeraj stood out among the silver and bronze medalists. Neeraj in first place while Ashraf Nadeem in second. The third place went to Yakub Vadlejch of Czech Republic, who achieved the second throw of 86.67m and got the bronze medal.
