Haldwani. Shraddha Paksha, a symbol of respect and reverence towards ancestors, has started from Friday. Purnima and Pratipada Shraddha will be held today only. After this, the sequence of Shraddha will continue every day till 14th October. However, the date is 10th October.
According to the Vedic tradition in Hindu religion, there are many customs and fasts and festivals. Under this, Shraddha of ancestors is also performed. Shraddha rituals can be performed on the Amavasya date of every month, but there is a rule to perform Shraddha rituals for the entire fortnight from the full moon day of Bhadrapada month to the new moon day of Ashwin month. This festival of paying respect to our ancestors is called Shraddha.
Astrology says that every year Pitru Paksha occurs from the full moon date of Bhadrapada month to Ashwin Amavasya. During these 16 days, Shraddha is performed for the ancestors. This time Pitru Paksha is starting from today. Shraddha of Purnima and Pratipada will be held today. Those on full moon day can do charity before 12 o’clock, while those on Pratipada day can do charity after 12 o’clock.

According to Katha Vyas and astrologer Acharya Shiv Prasad Mamgain, this is a special festival of reverence, in which the blessings of the ancestors remain. Shraddha means to express reverence towards one’s family deities and ancestors.
Ancestors come from the ancestral world
It is believed that during Shraddha Paksha, ancestors come to earth from Pitru Loka in some form or the other to meet their relatives. Accept food and sentiments prepared by relatives. It is believed that during this time, ancestors become happy and bless by offering Pind Daan, Tarpan Karma and feeding food to Brahmins. Therefore his blessings remain special during these 15 days. The status of ancestors comes in Devkoti. They are even invited to auspicious functions including marriages.
