Encounter of the criminal with Uttarakhand STF and Haridwar Police, the other accomplice absconding
Haridwar. Amarjeet Singh, who shot dead Baba Tarsem Singh, the Karseva head of Nanakmatta Gurudwara, has been killed by Uttarakhand STF and Haridwar Police in an encounter in Bhagwanpur police station area. The other accomplice of the murderer has absconded and STF and police are busy searching for him. On the morning of March 28, Dera Kar Seva chief Baba Tarsem Singh was shot dead by two shooters riding a bike in Nanakmatta.
Uttarakhand Director General of Police (DGP) Abhinav Kumar told ANI that the shooter carrying a bounty of Rs 1 lakh, Amarjeet Singh alias Bittu, was killed, while his accomplice escaped. He told that the murder of Baba was taken as a challenge by the Uttarakhand Police and both the STF and the police were continuously searching for the killers. If such heinous crimes are committed in Uttarakhand, the police will deal strictly with the criminals.
Earlier on Sunday, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Udham Singh Nagar had increased the reward amount on the two absconding main accused (shooters) Amarjeet Singh and Sarabjeet Singh from Rs 50 thousand to Rs 1 lakh. At the same time, the police have arrested three more accused involved in the conspiracy to murder Baba Tarsem Singh. Of these, one is from UP and two are from Bajpur area of Uttarakhand. The accused of Bajpur had provided rifles to the sharp shooters.
On Sunday, SSP Dr. Manjunath TC told the journalists at Nanakmatta police station that Pargat Singh, resident of Tulapur, Bilsanda, Pilibhit, was arrested late Saturday night from Melaghat Road, Jhankaiya, Khatima in connection with the conspiracy to murder Baba Tarsem Singh. Jaspal Singh Bhatti, resident of Keshowala Mode, Bajpur, was caught from Jail Road, Rampur, UP and Sukhdev Singh Gill alias Sonu Gill, resident of Bannakheda Bajpur, was caught from Bajpur area on Sunday.
