Tourists stranded due to highway closure for three days due to debris

Devprayag. After three days on the Rishikesh Chamba Highway, the movement of vehicles was restored at around 9 am on Friday. After this, the goods vehicles stranded on the highway left for their respective destinations.
Vehicular movement on the highway came to a standstill due to heavy rocky debris near Bagadhar on Rishikesh Chamba Highway at around 9 pm last Monday night. NH’s JCB machines were continuously engaged in the work of debris removal, but it took 84 hours to open the highway due to continuous debris coming from the hill and heavy rains in the area. The movement of vehicles could start after the debris was removed from the highway at around 9 am on Friday.
Narendra Nagar police station in-charge Pankaj Devrani said that for the sake of security, one-way movement of vehicles is being done in Bagardhar. Goods vehicles stuck on the highway for the last three days left for places like Chamba, New Tehri, Ghansali, Pratap Nagar after the highway opened. On the other hand, heavy boulders fell on the Rishikesh Badrinath Highway on Thursday night near Dholidhar and Pantgaon Pulia, blocking the highway.
