Roadways employees will march to the Secretariat in Dehradun on the morning of 10th October and will go on strike after 12 midnight.

Dehradun. Angered by the attitude of the government and management, the employees of Uttarakhand Transport Corporation have rejected their appeal to postpone the strike this time. Transport Corporation Employees United Front has warned to keep the program of agitation and strike as it is.
As part of the phased movement, the Morcha has given notice of one-day strike at Dehradun ISBT on October 3, Haldwani bus station on October 5 and Tanakpur workshop on October 6. After this, the Secretariat in Dehradun will be marched on the morning of 10th October and the employees will go on indefinite strike from 12 midnight.
Uttarakhand Transport Corporation employees are adamant on the joint front movement regarding various demands including purchase of new buses, control on operation of illegal buses. In January, four major organizations of the corporation, Roadways Employees Joint Council, Uttaranchal Roadways Employees Union, Uttarakhand Roadways Employees Union and SC-ST Workers Union had formed a joint front regarding the problems and demands of the employees.
The United Front had also given strike notices in January and April, but then the government and management had convinced them. The United Front had warned of a strike from the midnight of 27th September, but the corporation management held talks with the employees on 23rd September and asked for time to act on the demands. On which the Morcha gave 15 days time and postponed the strike from 27th September till 10th October and gave notice of phased movement to the management.
Corporation management appealed on behalf of Transport Corporation General Manager Deepak Jain to United Front officials on Friday to send a letter to the United Front officials to postpone the one-day agitation on October 3, 5 and 6. Along with this, it was also requested to postpone the proposed strike from October 10.
According to the management, many demands of the employees have been accepted and procurement of 130 new buses has also been started. In response to this letter, United Front Convenor Ashok Chaudhary sent a letter to the Managing Director and refused to postpone the movement. Said that the government and management are not serious about the problems and demands of the Transport Corporation employees. Every time a compromise is made with the employees by deceit, but this time it will not happen. Major demands of the United Front

  • Hundred new buses should be purchased immediately.
  • Under the scheme, 20 new buses should be taken every month and a total of 500 new buses should be purchased.
  • To end the existence of transport corporation, operation of illegally running private buses should be stopped in all the cities.
  • Service rules should be made for contract and special category drivers, operators and technical personnel.
  • Administrative corruption in the purchase of spare parts should be curbed in the corporation and rules and regulations should be made for the purchase.
  • Deceased dependents should be given immediate appointment in the Transport Corporation.
  • Arrear payment of seventh pay scale and increased dearness allowance should be given to all the employees from January 1, 2023 and the benefit of house rent allowance should be started.
  • Corporation employees should be given summer and winter uniforms and pollution allowance.
  • The agency system should be stopped in the corporation and contract and special category drivers and conductors should be regularized and appointments should be made to the vacant posts through direct recruitment.
