Rs 30 lakh cash recovered from Delhi number car during road checking in Dehradun

Car riders detained and interrogated, cash handed over to Income Tax Department

In view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Doon Police has started an intensive checking campaign against transportation of liquor, cash etc. During checking on Rajpur Road, the police stopped a Delhi number car, upon searching, Rs 30 lakh cash was recovered from the car.
The car rider could not give any satisfactory answer regarding the cash. On which the police seized the cash and informed the Income Tax Department. There were five persons including a woman in the car, out of which two are residents of Doon and three are residents of Delhi. Police are interrogating the accused.
Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Singh said that in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, an intensive checking campaign is being conducted in the district. Suspicious vehicles and persons are being monitored to stop transportation of drugs and cash.
On Wednesday, the city Kotwali police received information that five persons were going towards Rajpur Road with a huge amount of cash in a car registered in Delhi. On which the police team checked Delhi number vehicles between Dilaram Chowk and Bahal Chowk. During this time, a car from Delhi was stopped near Anandam Sweet Shop.
During interrogation of the vehicle occupants, they identified themselves as Amar Singh, Ambrish Goyal, resident of Old Rajpur Road, Dehradun, Ashwini Kohli, Piyush Kohli and Tanya Kohli, resident of Janak Park, Harinagar, New Delhi.
Upon searching the vehicle, the police team found a total of Rs 30 lakh in cash in two bags. When inquired about this, the car occupants could not give any satisfactory answer. Police seized the recovered cash and informed the Income Tax Department. Also, the car riders are being detained and interrogated.
