Rs 7,250 crore donated to children’s charity

New Delhi. American businessman Warren Buffett has donated Berkshire Hathaway shares worth about $ 876 million (about Rs 7,250 crore) to a charitable foundation for children on Thanksgiving.
This donation includes 24 lakh Class B shares of Berkshire Hathaway. He has allocated 1.5 million shares to the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation, named after his late wife. An additional nine lakh shares have been distributed equally among three charities overseen by his children – The Sherwood Foundation, The Howard G Buffett Foundation and the Novo Foundation. The chief executive of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. said in a Thanksgiving letter to shareholders that the general feeling of my children and their father is that they do not need tribal wealth. However, this is not accepted both by law and in common practice in most parts of the world, including the United States.
