Sports University will be built on 100 acres in Haldwani

In a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, an in-principle agreement was reached to set up a sports university in Haldwani. The Chief Minister said that including the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex located in Haldwani, the surrounding land should be marked for it. This will ensure the use of the sports complex. The Chief Minister said that with the establishment of a sports university, the youth of the state would get better opportunities to show their talent in the field of sports.
On Wednesday, a meeting regarding the proposed sports university in the state was held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at the secretariat. In the meeting, the Chief Minister said that along with the development of infrastructure facilities for the Sports University, suggestions should be taken from the subject experts of the region for sports and necessary educational activities.
On the basis of these suggestions, advance action should be taken regarding the establishment of the Sports University. He said that there is no dearth of sports talents in Uttarakhand. Efforts are being made to provide better sports facilities to the youth in the state.
Giving information about the meeting, Sports Minister Rekha Arya said that this sports university will be built in about 100 acres of land. The Chief Minister has also given approval regarding taking the services of the Vice Chancellor of Swarnim Gujarat Sports University for making the Act and Rules of the Sports University.
Expressing his gratitude to the Chief Minister, he said that this would help in improving the educational and sports level of the sports talents of the state. These players will bring laurels to the country and the state by performing better at the national and international level.
In the meeting, Chief Secretary DrDepartmental officers including SS Sandhu, Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Special Principal Secretary Sports Abhinav Kumar, Secretaries R Meenakshi Sundaram, Dilip Jawalkar and Additional Secretary and Director Sports Jitendra Sonkar were present
