Temple-mazar and cemetery built on forest land will be removed

Illegal occupation of 2294.84 hectares of forest land in Garhwal, 9490.82 hectares in Kumaon

Dehradun. Uttarakhand occupies 11861.35 hectares of forest land. Out of this, 2337 hectares of forest land has been illegally occupied in the last three years.
In the meeting held on Thursday, the team formed to remove encroachment from the forests presented this data. A separate list of illegal religious places will be made out of the encroachments. After this the demolition process will be implemented. Nodal officer appointed for removal of encroachment DrParag Madhukar Dhakate told in the meeting that 2294.84 hectares of forest land has been encroached in Garhwal Division, 9490.82 hectares in Kumaon Division and 75.69 hectares in Wildlife Division. In Nanda Devi National Park, 49 hectares, 9.1 hectares in Corbett, 3.51 hectares in Rajaji have been encroached upon
