Uttarkashi. The anger over the incident of abduction of Hindu girls by youths of a particular community in Purola and Arakot in Uttarkashi district has also reached the Ganges Valley. Local traders observed market bandh and procession. Local traders and pilgrimage priests of Gangotri Dham closed the market and performed a procession. Demanded for intensive verification of people coming from outside states and action by marking chaotic elements.
On Saturday, traders of Gangotri Dham and people associated with various social organizations, including pilgrimage priests, gathered at the Gangotri temple premises under the leadership of Vyapar Mandal President Indra Dev Semwal. From where all the traders in the form of a procession demanded severe punishment for the accused who abducted the Purola minor on May 26 and the accused who attempted to abduct the minor girls of Nepali origin in Arakot on June 8. demanded and protested. During this time all the traders closed their establishments and demanded verification from the police. Traders said that the market will remain closed until there is a positive dialogue regarding the matter
