Dates of opening of doors of second Kedar Madmaheshwar and third Kedar Tungnath announced on Friday on Vaisakhi festival
Rudraprayag. On the occasion of Baisakhi festival, the opening dates of second Kedar Madmaheshwar and third Kedar Tungnath were announced on Friday. The portals of the third Kedar Tungnath will be opened on May 26 by law. The doors of Lord Madmeshwar will open on May 22.
Every year, auspicious days are fixed for the opening and closing of the doors of Kedarnath as well as the second and third Kedar. According to the centuries-old tradition, on the day of Baisakhi festival Sankranti, the date of opening of doors of second Kedar Madmaheshwar temple in Omkareshwar Ukhimath and third Kedar Tungnath temple in Markandeya temple Makkumath is fixed.
In the presence of temple committee officials, priests, hakhakukdharis and devotees, the process of deciding the day for opening the doors of Omkareshwar temple and Markandeya temple was started from 8 am on the basis of almanac calculations. In the Omkareshwar temple, the Bhogmurti of Lord Madmeshwar was brought out of the sanctum sanctorum and placed in a Pushparath decorated with flower garlands. After which, after circumambulating the temple, the deity was seated again in the sanctum sanctorum. During this, devotees from far flung areas also wish for happiness and prosperity.
