The pain of the martyr’s mother spilled out, said- The wife of martyr Captain Anshuman Singh went to her maternal home with Kirti

The father said – there is nothing except the photo of the son on the wall

The family of Captain Anshuman Singh, who was martyred in saving his comrades in Siachen, was awarded the Kirti Chakra by the President on 5 July 2024 for his indomitable courage and bravery. But now another pain of Anshuman Singh’s parents has come to the fore.

It is alleged that martyr Anshuman Singh’s wife Smriti has gone to her home in Gurdaspur with the Kirti Chakra given by the government along with her husband’s photo album, clothes and other memories.

According to the allegations, she not only took the medal of the martyred son of the parents but also got the permanent address recorded in his documents changed to her home in Gurdaspur. However, no statement of Smriti has come out on this matter yet.

On July 5, President Draupadi Murmu honoured 10 soldiers of the army and other security forces with the Kirti Chakra for their bravery at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Out of these, 7 soldiers were honoured posthumously. Meanwhile, when one of these martyrs, Captain Anshuman Singh, was honoured with the Kirti Chakra posthumously, its photo went viral on social media. But in the meantime, a big twist came to light. Actually, his wife Smriti and mother Manju Singh had received it. Not even 7 days had passed when a dispute arose in the martyr’s house. The martyr’s father Ravi Pratap Singh alleged that, ‘The daughter-in-law has left from here with the Kirti Chakra. She has also changed her address. We do not even have any receipt for the Kirti Chakra. The daughter-in-law took that too.’ At the same time, the mother said that daughters-in-law run away. No one should have to suffer like me. The prescribed criteria for the nearest of kin (NOK) in the army is not right. In the definition, parents are there for unmarried person and spouse is there for married person. Financial help given to a martyr is given only to the closest relative. Martyr’s father said that his son was married five months ago, he has no children. Pointing towards the photo on the wall, he said that this is all we have left today.
Martyr Anshuman’s father said that questions should be asked about the definition of closest relative. There should be a change in it. What will happen if martyr’s wife stays in the family? What will happen if she does not stay? What will happen if children stay? What will happen to the parents? How many people in the family were dependent on him and how much responsibility has he left behind? There should be amendment in those things. We have spoken to the Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in this regard. He has assured that he will speak to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh.
