Haldwani. Masked miscreants entered the Mahindra showroom located in TP Nagar Chowki area at night and escaped with a locker weighing two quintals along with Rs 25 lakh. A team of police, SOG and forensic experts reached the spot on Sunday morning and took stock of the incident. Police have started investigation on the complaint of showroom owner.
In the complaint given to the police, Palam City resident Sanjay Aggarwal alias Golu told that he has a showroom of Mahindra vehicles in the name of Bajrang Motors on Rampur Road. As usual, he closed the showroom at around 9 pm on Saturday night and went home. On Sunday morning, he was preparing for the puja on Navratri, when the showroom employee informed him that the lock of the office door was broken. When he reached the showroom, he saw that a locker worth two quintals was missing from the office, in which cash worth about Rs 25 lakh was kept. After checking the CCTV, the thieves were seen breaking the safe and when they were not successful, they took it away by rubbing it. Outpost in-charge Pankaj Joshi said, investigation is being done.
The locker was kept on the second floor of the showroom. The thieves first dragged the locker from the showroom to the window, about 25 meters away. About 4 to 5 people are suspected to be involved in the theft.
According to the showroom owner, he has kept two security guards at his place who remain deployed at night. The special thing is that during such a big incident the thieves were not even aware of it. Employees told that money was stolen from the office about six months ago. To avoid this, a locker containing two quintals was kept in the office. The money was not deposited in the bank for three days. At the same time, money was also received for booking many vehicles for delivery on Navratri. Because of this, a lot of money was kept in the locker. Apart from this, 150 silver coins were also kept in the locker.
