Tiger took away the old man working in the field in Kotdwar

Elderly dead body found in bushes, panic among villagers
Kotdwar.
Under Rikhanikhal block of Kotdwar, a tiger carried away an elderly man working in the field in revenue village Dalla of Meldhar Gram Panchayat. The dead body of the old man was found in the bushes about 100 meters away from the spot. After getting the information, the Forest Department team headed by Diva Range Officer Mahendra Singh Rawat left for the village.
The incident took place on Thursday at 6 pm. Village head Khushendra Singh told that Birendra Singh (73), a resident of Tok village Ladwasain of village Dalla, was cutting wheat in the fields near his house on Thursday evening. The tiger sitting in ambush attacked them. The tiger attacked Birender Singh and dragged him into the bushes. Hearing the noise, the family members and villagers ran towards the spot but the tiger did not leave him. The villagers lit a fire and made noise. Somehow the tiger was driven away from there. The tiger badly injured his face and throat and he died on the spot. As soon as the information was received, Rikhanikhal station head Arvind Singh also left for the spot along with the force.
Diva Range Officer of Garhwal Forest Division Mahendra Singh Rawat told that the forest department team has left for the village. Local people said that this entire area is adjacent to the Kalagarh Tiger Reserve. Where the movement of the tiger remains. There is an atmosphere of panic in the area. Former State General Secretary of Congress, Ranjana Rawat demanded the Forest Department to increase patrolling in the area and install a cage to catch the tiger
