Rafting was closed in the months of July and August due to rise in the water level of Ganga.
Rishikesh. There is good news for tourists who are fond of rafting. Rafting activities have started in the world famous Kaudiyala Munikireti Eco Tourism Zone of Ganga. In the first phase, rafting operations have been allowed from Marine Drive to Shivpuri and from Club House to Munikireti.
In view of the increase in water in the Ganga during the monsoon period, rafting is closed in the months of July and August for safety reasons. Rafting season starts from 1st September. However, this year due to high water level in Ganga, rafting activity could not start from September 1. The technical team associated with the Ganga River Rafting Management Committee descended into the Ganga last Friday and assessed the possibilities of rafting.
The technical team found that the water level in the Ganga has now become suitable for rafting to a great extent. After which, in the first phase, rafting activities have been started from Marine Drive to Shivpuri and from Club House (Brahmapuri) to Kharasrot (Munikireti). Rafting will remain closed between Shivpuri and Club House and Munikireti for the time being.
Rafting businessman Deepak Badoni said that tourists have been inquiring about rafting for a long time. But due to the closure of rafting, tourists had to return empty handed. Now tourists will once again be able to enjoy rafting in the Ganga.
