Two people died in tractor accident in Garampani and Khatima

Tractor fell into Kosi river in Bhujan area, overturned in roadside pit in Khatima
Haldwani.
The driver of a tractor died after falling into the Kosi river in the nearby Bhujan area in the early hours of Saturday. According to Revenue Sub-Inspector Pankaj Singh Fartyal, along with sending information to the driver’s relatives, the body has been sent to Ranikhet for post-mortem.
The cause of the accident is being investigated. Dheeraj Singh Negi (34), resident of Ida Barakham (Dwarahat), left for the village after purchasing a new tractor from Haldwani. The tractor fell into the Kosi river near Bhujan area on Ranikhet-Khairna State Highway. Local people launched a rescue operation and took seriously injured Dheeraj to CHC Garampani through emergency 108 service, where he died during treatment. Many accidents have happened on this route in the past also.
In Khatima, a farmer riding on a tractor overturned in a roadside pit and died. A wave of mourning ran in the village due to the death of the farmer. The wife became distraught after receiving the news of her husband’s death. Police have handed over the body to the relatives after post-mortem.
Umesh Kumar (37), son of Chandeep Prasad, resident of village Gangi, was going towards his sugarcane field located on Ainchatabihi road on a tractor at around 10 am on Saturday morning. Family members told that suddenly some animal had come in front of the tractor on the way. While saving the animal, the tractor went out of control and overturned into a roadside pit due to which Umesh Kumar was seriously injured. He was immediately rushed to the hospital where the doctor declared him dead. MLA Bhuvan Kapri, who arrived after receiving information about the farmer’s death, consoled the family. Umesh has left behind a crying wife and three children. There is chaos in the family due to the death of the farmer.
