Dehradun. The weather patterns have changed again in Uttarakhand. The interaction of sunshine and clouds continues from the mountains to the plains. Meanwhile, the second snowfall of the season occurred on all the peaks including Badrinath, Kedarnath, Hemkund Sahib. Due to which severe cold has started in the surrounding areas. A decline in mercury is also being recorded in low-lying areas.
Orange alert of hailstorm with thunder and lightning has been issued today by the Meteorological Department. During this period, there is a possibility of snowfall on the peaks. Due to which the cold may increase in the entire state. Clouds continued to hover over the state since Sunday morning. There was a possibility of rain due to partly to generally cloudy sky in most areas including Dehradun and a drop in temperature was recorded.
At the same time, in the hilly areas from Garhwal to Kumaon, there was light to moderate snowfall on the peaks. Along with strong winds, light drizzle was also recorded at some places. The weather became cold due to drop in temperature in the mountains. The weather in Kedarnath Dham was cold since morning and heavy snowfall started in the afternoon.
Pilgrims enjoyed this snowfall a lot. There was snowfall in Badrinath and Hemkund in the afternoon. There was intermittent rain with strong thunderstorm at low lying places in Chamoli.
According to Bikram Singh, Director of Meteorological Center, the activity of western disturbance has increased in the state. Due to which there are chances of snowfall and hailstorm due to development of clouds in the Himalayan regions. On Monday, there may be thunderstorms and hailstorm in most areas of the state. Orange alert has been issued regarding this. There are chances of light rain at some places and snowfall in the peaks.
