Uttarkashi. A woman has accused a government hospital doctor of stealing a kidney during a kidney stone operation. A case has been registered in this matter in the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CGM) court.
Subhani Devi, a resident of Masri village in Uttarkashi district, submitted an application to the Chief Judicial Magistrate demanding action against the accused doctor. CJM court has sought report from Kotwali Uttarkashi by March 20.
Subhani Devi told that her health deteriorated in March 2014, after which she came to the district hospital. From April 1 to April 3, she was admitted under the care of the surgeon of the district hospital. He was diagnosed with gallstones. Both kidneys were normal on ultrasound. The doctor again admitted him to the district hospital on April 9, 2014 and operated on him on April 11. After treatment she came home on 17 April. After some time, stomach pain started again. Initially ignored, but when the pain became unbearable, she was admitted to Coronation Hospital, Dehradun on January 27, 2023. There, during ultrasound, the doctors informed that there was no kidney.
Then the victim also got ultrasound examination done in Uttarkashi District Hospital and a private hospital in Dehradun. Subhani said that she had only got the operation done for gallstones from the accused doctor. Apart from that no other operation has been done. He alleged that one of his kidneys was missing by the doctor who performed the gall bladder operation. Subhani Devi said that no hospital in Uttarakhand was ready to conduct color Doppler ultrasound and CT scan of her kidneys. After which she went to Rai Hospital and Maternity Centre, Rohru, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
Doctors in Rohru told that there is a wound at the place of the missing kidney. Whose treatment can be done only by the doctor who performed the operation. He asked for information related to the operation under the Right to Information Act at the District Hospital, Uttarkashi, but the information was not given by the District Hospital.
