Caught 400 kg destroyed before Chardham Yatra season started
Dehradun. Before the start of Chardham Yatra, adulterated food items have started arriving in the market. The Food Safety Department seized and destroyed 400 kg of adulterated paneer in Dehradun. Paneer was prepared from refined and arrowroot.
Two teams of FDA conducted the campaign at different places. 400 kg of adulterated paneer was seized. Which was destroyed by JCB in the trenching ground with the help of Municipal Corporation. Officials said that a similar campaign would be launched in the coming days as well.
Two teams of the Food Safety Department were constituted to check the milk and milk products supplied from outside the state in Doon and surrounding areas. The first team was led by Deputy Commissioner of Food Safety Department, GC Kandwal and the second team was led by Garhwal Divisional Deputy Commissioner, Rajendra Singh Rawat.
The team, along with FDA Vigilance, conducted campaigns at different places to check milk and milk products. District Food Security Officer PC Joshi said that the team raided a store located in Dharampur-Danda, in which two quintals of paneer were kept by persons named Dharmendra and Shubham in a deep freezer in a room.
During interrogation, he told that a person named Irshad had brought this paneer from Rampur Maniharan, Saharanpur. Which was to be supplied by private van to the hotels and restaurants of Dehradun and Mussoorie. Paneer was prepared by mixing refined oil, arrowroot etc. The FDA team also caught two quintal paneer being brought in a van from two persons named Afzal and Pinku Kumar at number six culvert. In this way, four quintals of adulterated paneer seized from different places were destroyed by running JCB. Apart from this, eight samples of paneer, mawa and masala have been collected and sent to Rudrapur lab for quality check. The District Food Safety Officer said that legal action will be taken against the traders concerned after the investigation report comes from the lab
