1,365 critical and 809 unsafe polling booths in Uttarakhand, voting will be held today

There will be no restriction on the movement of vehicles, the weather will also cooperate

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Jogdande said, 1,365 critical polling booths and 809 vulnerable polling booths have been identified in the state. Security arrangements have been made at critical booths, while vulnerable booths are those where some violent incident may have taken place in the last elections. There will be adequate force arrangements at these polling stations. Intensive checking is done by all flying squads and statistics surveillance teams 48 hours before voting. In view of this, 293 flying squads and 252 statistics surveillance teams will remain on alert mode in the state.
Movement of private vehicles will also continue during the elections. Private vehicles coming from other states will have to undergo checking. There are no other restrictions.
The weather will also cooperate during voting. While there may be light drizzle at some places in the hilly areas, the weather will remain clear in the plains. At present the Meteorological Department has ruled out heat wave. Therefore, the Election Commission is hopeful of good turnout.
So many employees engaged in election duty
More than 55 thousand employees have been deployed for polling parties. 11,729 polling parties have reached their destination. 65 companies of CAPFs have been deployed for security. 20 companies have been appointed as Uttarakhand PAC. 15 thousand soldiers will be ready for home guard.
Know this also regarding voting

  • Any voter who enters the polling station at five in the evening will have the right to cast his vote. After five o’clock, no voter from outside will be able to enter the polling place to vote inside.
  • Webcasting will take place at 5,892 booths. Election Commission and ROs of all the districts will also be able to watch the voting process live.
  • During voting, monitoring will also be done through drones at many centres. The footage and information of the drone will be given to the control room in due time. Action will be taken accordingly.
  • Voting trends will be known every two hours across the state. This time the Election Commission has implemented the PDMS system.
