The 18th Governors Golf Tournament started today at Nainital Raj Bhavan Golf Course. The competition was started by the Governor Lt. Gen. Gurmeet Singh himself by taking the tee off. He hit the ball with a golf stick and sent it to the far field. Players like Army, Police, CRPF, students, women, elders etc. have come to play in the competition. This competition, which started from the year 2003, is starting again after a period of 3 years of the Kovid period.
Out of 142 applications received this year, only 125 players including 9 women have been given entry. The Governor told that there is also a great gift of nature here. A large number of school children and elders come to play in this 200-acre ground of Raj Bhavan. It is a matter of relief that now common people are also entering this game, which is generally called the game of the nobles. The Governor said that apart from six-year-old Vijit Indriya Singh Tomar and Rushank Pratap Singh Sijwali, 103-year-old Dilip Singh Majethiyan is participating here. Many super veterans are also participating here. The Governor inaugurated the competition in the morning by tee-off.
