Nainital The women of Ekta Self Help Group embraced prosperity by adopting self-employment. Ekta self-help group operated in Haldwani development block of Nainital district is doing the work of making pulses along with cotton wicks. During the Kovid-19 pandemic, this group successfully operated the Kovid canteen at Primary Health Center Mota Haldu. 15 women of the group are connected. The goods manufactured by the group are being sold through Hilans outlets in Saras Market.
Giving information, Chief Development Officer Dr. Sandeep Tiwari said that 15 members from 07 families are engaged in self-employment through unity self-help group. The total turnover of this group is Rs.201500 and net profit is Rs.103500. And the income per family is Rs.14785. According to the CDO, about 06 thousand women of Haldwani block have improved their lives by joining self-employment. Block Haldwani 567 women self help groups are registered through them women are getting opportunity to become self reliant. Along with arranging group formation, encouragement, training, budget, the development department has also taken the responsibility of selling the products of the groups, the same self-aware women are encouraging other women to move forward. Giving information DrTiwari said that through the National Livelihood Mission, women’s self-help groups are being formed in all development blocks. Efforts are being made to implement the Women’s Self-Employment Mission on the ground by including all the 60 villages covering Gaulapar Chorgaliya, Bareilly Road, Rampur Road and Lamachod. Presently 567 groups are registered in Haldwani block. There are 10 women in a group. At present, this group is engaged in food preparation, jute bag manufacturing, mushroom production, LED bulb manufacturing as well as canteen operations. Nainital Road Saras Market has a big store for production sale as well as outlet products are being launched in the market.
Ekta Self Help Group chaired by Pushpa Padhalani said that the block mission manager supports all the people associated with the department including the area coordinator. Initially there was a lot of struggle but now women are becoming aware. That’s why we also cooperate fully to take them forward. He told that he also goes outside Haldwani for training.
