Smart phone users go through emotional distress when the battery runs out, study report reveals
New Delhi. Three out of four mobile users in the country suffer from nomophobia (fear of being away from mobile). This has been revealed in the report of global smartphone device brand ‘Oppo’ and Counterpoint. According to the report, 72 percent of smartphone users in the country get stressed when the battery is 20 percent or less, while 65 percent of users go through emotional distress when the battery is exhausted.
The report titled ‘Nomophobia: The Battery Anxiety Consumer Study’ examines the mind set of the user and how the fear of a depleting mobile battery is a major factor. Damayant Singh Khanoria, CMO, Oppo India, said, “This study will help in understanding the nuances of nomophobia. This will help Oppo solve the problem. Research director Tarun Pathak said that smartphone has become our world. However, many people are afraid of not having a phone. This is the reason why people get stressed when the battery is low or unable to use the phone. He said that the worry of low battery is more among working people in the age group of 31 to 40 than in the age group of 25 to 30
