Unprecedented increase in the number of voters in the plains districts of Uttarakhand in 10 years
Dehradun. The rapid increase in the number of voters in Uttarakhand in the last 10 years will now be investigated at the state level. On the orders of the Election Commission of India, the State Election Commission has written a letter to all the District Magistrates and District Election Officers and ordered a quick investigation by forming committees at the district level, assembly constituency level and polling.
Based on this report, former IFS officer and President of Uttarakhand Raksha Morcha, DrVK Bahuguna had written letters to the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand before the Chief Election Commissioner and kept demanding an inquiry into the matter. He had said that this abnormal increase in the number of voters is threatening the cultural integrity of Uttarakhand. Doctor. Bahuguna also said that the carrying capacity of Uttarakhand has been exhausted many years ago, so the report of SDC Foundation led by Anoop Nautiyal is a warning to all policy makers and common people.
Finally, after about 10 months, the Election Commission of India, taking cognizance of this matter, has ordered the State Election Commission to investigate this matter in the entire state. On this basis, the State Election Commission has sent orders to all District Magistrates and District Election Officers to constitute committees in the district, assembly constituency and polling booth.
Three level committee will be formed
Based on the report of SDC Foundation on the unexpected increase in the number of voters, the committee to be constituted at the district level will have 4 members including the Deputy District Election Officer. The Assembly Constituency Level Committee will have 4 members including the Electoral Registration Officer and the Booth Level Committee will have 5 members including the Patwari nominated by the Deputy District Magistrate. The State Election Commission has asked to complete the investigation by 28 February 2023 and submit the report.
Uttarakhand Raksha Morcha President DrAccording to VK Bahuguna, the number of voters in Uttarakhand is increasing unexpectedly. During the last 10 years, there has been an increase in the number of voters in all the seats of the state, but this increase in the seats of plain districts is very worrying. Doctor. According to Bahuguna, this fact has come out from the report of SDC Foundation and this increase in such a large number of voters in the plains indicates that there is probably more migration of people to Uttarakhand than migration from other states. It is a hilly area.
SDC Foundation President Anup Nautiyal expressed satisfaction over the Election Commission’s order to probe the increase in the number of voters in Uttarakhand, which is much higher than other states. He said that the seats where the number of voters has increased the most are all plain seats. Among the 70 seats in the state, maximum number of votes have increased in Dharampur assembly constituency of Dehradun district. There has been an increase of 72 percent in the number of voters in this assembly constituency in the last 10 years. Apart from Dharampur, the top 10 constituencies of Rudrapur, Doiwala, Sahaspur, Kaladhungi, Kashipur, Raipur, Kichha, Bhel Ranipur and Rishikesh saw the highest increase in the number of voters ranging from 41% to 72%. Anoop Nautiyal said that probably due to such a large number of people coming from outside settling in Uttarakhand, there is a lot of pressure on the carrying capacity of the cities of the state. Most of the cities in the state are already carrying loads far beyond their carrying capacity. Due to this, lack of civic amenities and various types of urban problems are increasing continuously.
Anoop Nautiyal has expressed apprehension that this increase in the number of voters may also be related to the elections to the local municipal bodies to be held in the next nine months. There are eight Municipal Corporations in Uttarakhand namely Dehradun, Haridwar, Roorkee, Rishikesh, Kotdwar, Haldwani, Kashipur and Rudrapur. He said that the maximum increase in the number of voters has been registered in these eight cities and their districts. It needs to be noted that in order to strengthen the vote bank, people are being brought from outside and settled here. Along with all this, apart from political reasons, there may be a possibility of doing this in a planned manner for social, religious or security reasons
