Bangladeshi citizen caught with $14800 from Dehradun airport

. In a joint checking operation of Income Tax Department and Police, US dollars have been recovered from a foreign national from Dehradun Airport. In view of the Lok Sabha elections in the state, such checking campaign is being run at the airport. Based on the information, the Income Tax Department and the local police have taken this action.
According to Kotwali in-charge Inspector Vinod Gusai, on the night of April 16, Assistant Director of Income Tax Department Abid Ali informed on phone that a Bangladeshi citizen was coming to the airport with foreign currency. On information, Inspector CISF Sudhir Thapa, Inspector Yogesh of Income Tax Department Pal and police jointly conducted the checking operation.
During checking at the airport, 148 notes of US$ 100-100, totaling US$ 14800 (Rs 12 lakh 39 thousand 91 in Indian currency), were recovered from Bangladeshi citizen Mohammad Rafson son of Sirajul Islam, resident of Singh Bagura Chatkil Noakhali, Bangladesh.
During interrogation, the foreign national told that he works in a Roman Gift Company and he had come to Jolly Grant from Saudi Arabia via Delhi. And going to Saharanpur to buy craft items. For which he had brought this dollar with him. The inspector in charge said that according to the law, it is necessary to mention this type of money in the declaration certificate. But on the spot, when documents related to American dollars were asked from foreign citizen Mohammad Rafson, he could not provide any verification record or declaration certificate. After this, the said amount has been confiscated for the time being. Also the matter is being investigated.
