Bolero fell in Nainital district, 8 people died

Bolero taking laborers of Nepali origin from Mallagaon of Betalghat area to Tanakpur.

The Bolero jeep carrying laborers of Nepali origin from Mallagaon in Betalghat area of Nainital district to Tanakpur fell into a deep ditch. Eight people, including the driver, died while two were injured in the accident that occurred late on Monday night. The police rescued all the eight bodies by around 12 o’clock in the night.
According to the information, about ten laborers from Nepal had booked a Bolero jeep and left for Tanakpur from Unchakot, located about 15 kilometers away from Betalghat block headquarters, at around 10.30 pm on Monday night. On reaching near Mallagaon, the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle fell into a ditch about 200 meters deep. As soon as the information was received, the ambulance and police team reached the spot. Betalghat SO Anees Ahmed said that the rescue operation started with the help of local people. By around 12 o’clock in the night, eight bodies including that of Bolero driver Rajendra Kumar, 38, resident of Betalghat, were taken out from the ditch. These laborers of Nepali origin had left for Tanakpur. All of them used to work as laborers in the ongoing construction work under Jal Jeevan Mission in Betalghat.
Betalghat police station incharge Anish Ahmed said that eight people, including the Bolero driver, have died in the road accident, while two people have been injured. Efforts are being made to identify workers of Nepali origin.
