Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission approves 12% hike in power tariff

Dehradun. Power tariff in Uttarakhand is likely to go up by up to 12 per cent from April 1. The Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission has approved it. The commission will release the increased rates on March 23. This increase will affect 27 lakh 50 thousand 872 consumers of the state.
UPCL had proposed to the regulatory commission to increase power tariff by 16.96 per cent, UJVNL by about 2.43 per cent, and Pitkul by 9.27 per cent. The Commission held public hearings across the state on all these proposals and listened to the stakeholders and the three energy corporations. Now the Commission has held a meeting of the Board and brainstormed on the proposals of all. According to sources, the Regulatory Commission has decided to increase the tariff of UPCL by about 12 percent.
