ED raids Haldwani house of accused of money laundering conspiracy in America

The accused is also accused of selling medicines banned in America.

. On Friday, the ED team raided the Tikonia residence of Banmeet Narula, who is serving a sentence in the case of selling banned medicines and money laundering in America.
According to the information received, 12 vehicles of the ED team along with Dehradun Police reached the house of Banmeet Narula in Tikonia at 5.45 am. The ED raid created a stir in the locality. At the time of the raid, Banmeet Narula’s father Surjit Narula and family members were present in his house. After the raid, no outsider is being allowed to enter the house. When outsiders came to work, they were not allowed inside. The gate is tightly guarded by the local police. When the team reached here in the morning, the key maker was called to open the lock of the cupboard and safe. After this, the ED team searched all the documents kept in the house along with the cupboard and safe. At present the ED team is investigating. It is being told that the ED team is also raiding other places related to the case.
An attempt was made to talk to Banmeet’s father Surjeet Narula but he refused to tell anything about this. It is being told that Banmeet Singh, a resident of Haldwani, was arrested in London in April 2019 and was extradited to America in 2023. He pleaded guilty in a Columbus court to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute controlled substances and conspiracy to commit money laundering and was sentenced to seven years in prison. This is the first major action of ED in Nainital district of Kumaon.
