During this, he told the journalists that the compensation of Rs 1100 per bigha to the disaster affected farmers is an insult to the farmers and farmers. The amount of this compensation should be increased as compared to the compensation to the farmers. We demand Rs 10 thousand per bigha. Sugarcane is the pillar of the economy of farmers. The prices of sugar are continuously increasing in the world and the demand for Exol is increasing.
To encourage sugarcane farmers, the purchase price of sugarcane this year should be above Rs 425 per quintal. The purchase price of sugarcane should be announced soon. Crop cycle i.e. six months of disaster, electricity and water bills of farmers and disaster affected families should be waived off. There should be a ban on recovery of six months’ loan of disaster affected farmers and six months’ interest should be waived off or the government should reimburse it.
In the memorandum, they were given time till October 20 to take action on their demands and if the government does not take favorable action on their demands by October 20, 2023, then farmers will be forced to protest on the roads of Dehradun, from blocking the national highway. .
