Haridwar. Uttarakhand Metro Rail Corporation has issued global tenders to run pod taxis under the Personal Rapit Transit System in Haridwar. This project of PPP mode is to be completed in one and a half years. It will also be the country’s first project in the form of a pod taxi.
Uttarakhand Metro Corporation has prepared a proposal to run pod taxis here. Last month, the cabinet had given the green signal to this project, now the Metro Corporation has issued its global tender, which will open on May 17. Under the project, pod taxis will be run on about 20 km track from the end of Jwalapur in Haridwar to Bharat Mata Temple and Luxor Road.
Confirming the issuance of the global tender, Metro Corporation MD Jitendra Tyagi said that many companies have shown initial interest in this project. This is expected to make the project successful. One and a half years time will be given to complete the project. He said that there is not much need for land in this project. This will be the first experiment of the Pod in India. Pod taxi is a kind of cable car. In which six to seven people can come to a cabin at a time. It doesn’t require much land. Its pillars and stations are also to be built on the roads.
Sitapur, Jwalapur, Aryanagar, Ramnagar, Rishikul, Railway Station, Lalta Rau Bridge, Mansa Devi Ropeway, Har Ki Padi, Khadkhari, Motichur, Shantikunj, Bharat Mata Mandir, Kankhal, Ganeshpuram, Daksha Mandir, Jagjitpur, Laksar Road stations will be there.
