. The wait for starting heli ambulance service from AIIMS Rishikesh will soon end. Successful trial of heli ambulance service was conducted. In view of the Lok Sabha elections, it is expected that the service will be started within a month.
On September 20, 2022, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had announced the operation of heli ambulance at AIIMS at an event in Delhi. The Heli Ambulance service is to be operated in 50-50 percent partnership between the Central and Uttarakhand governments. The contracted company will provide free heli ambulance service to 45 injured and patients in a month. Heli Ambulance will provide service in entire Uttarakhand along with Uttar Pradesh within a radius of 100 km.
Successful trials were conducted twice on Wednesday to start the heli ambulance service. The heli ambulance assembled from Meerut landed at AIIMS helipad at around 1.15 pm on Wednesday. Preparations for this had already been made here. An ambulance was also deployed at the helipad for the trial. Along with landing and take off, trials of taking patients to trauma by ambulance were conducted.
AIIMS administration says that the trial has been completely successful. It is expected that the heli ambulance service will be inaugurated within a month. During the trial, AIIMS Deputy Director Lt. Colonel Amit Parasar, Nodal Officer of Heli Ambulance Health Service, Dr. Madhur Uniyal, PRO Sandeep Kumar, Chief Security Officer Commandant Anil Chandra, Administrative Officer Gaurav Badola along with officials of DGCA and related agencies were present.
This time Chardham Yatra is starting from the month of May. If heli ambulance service is started in the month of April, then its maximum benefit will be available during Chardham Yatra. If a pilgrim becomes seriously ill or injured, he can be immediately brought to AIIMS for treatment by heli ambulance. This service will prove to be a lifesaver even for remote hilly areas.
