High court orders removal of illegal encroachment of 4000 people from railway land in Nagina

The division bench of Chief Justice Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Rakesh Thapliyal pronounced the verdict

Nainital. The High Court heard the matter of illegal encroachment of about 4,000 people on railway land in Nagina under Haldwani Lalkuan area. A division bench of Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice Rakesh Thapliyal rejected the petition of the encroachers and ordered the Railways to remove the illegal encroachment. After the order of the court, the way has been cleared to remove the encroachment.
Nagina Lalkuan resident Aanchal Kumar and four others filed a petition saying that the Railways has given notice to remove the illegal encroachment on May 3. Whose last date is May 18, so it should be banned. During the hearing, Railway’s advocate Rajeev Sharma informed the court that in 2018, the state government and the Railways started the investigation of this land together. At that time 84 illegal encroachments were found, after which the railways investigated several times.
Presently, about 4000 people have encroached on the railway land by making tin sheds. Railways have given ten days time to remove them.
It was also said on behalf of the Railways that a letter was given to the district administration to provide police force to remove them, but the district administration is not cooperating. Lalkuan railway station is to be modernized and expanded under Amrit Bharat Yojana, so it is necessary to remove the encroachment
