The central government gave in-principle consent to the proposal to provide 100 buses to the state.

Haldwani. Intercity e-bus services will start soon in major cities of the state. The central government has given in-principle consent to the proposal to provide 100 buses to the state under the PM e-bus service scheme of the central government. Nainital-Haldwani is also included in these.
The state has been directed to prepare a concrete system for payment of operating charges to the bus manufacturing company. E-buses are currently operating in the state under the Smart City Project within a specified distance within the city. Roadways will increase its scope. MD Dr. Srivastava told that there is a plan to run e-buses on Dehradun-Rishikesh, Mussoorie, Haridwar, Roorkee, Vikasnagar, Nainital, Haldwani etc. routes. Its detailed plan is being prepared. Under the PM E-bus scheme, there is a target to run 10,000 e-buses in 100 cities across the country. According to an estimate, there are more than 160 cities in the country with a population of three to four million. Out of these 100 cities will be selected. Uttarakhand also has a strong claim.
To encourage e-buses, the central government has made special provisions for the bus operator company. Along with the roadways, the state government is also being made accountable for the payment process. If the roadways does not pay on time, then the central government can deduct that amount from the aid amount given to the state. This arrangement is being done so that the bus services are not disrupted due to non-payment at the state level. Along with this, the state should operate these buses with full seriousness.
