Dehradun. The Kanwar Yatra to be held in Haridwar from July 4 to 15 will continue. This time without ID the Kanwar Yatris will not be allowed to enter the border of Uttarakhand. No kanwar will be allowed to be more than 12 feet high. There will be no ban on DJs, but the sound will be controlled.
This decision was taken in the coordination meeting of other agencies including Uttarakhand, UP, Delhi, Haryana, Himachal, Rajasthan and Punjab held under the chairmanship of DGP Ashok Kumar at the police headquarters in Dehradun on Friday. The DGP said that this time three and a half to four crore Kanwaris are expected to come. In such a situation, in view of all kinds of problems including law and order, traffic, the Kanwar area has been divided into 12 super zones, 32 zones and 130 sectors.
