Almora: A case of land purchase scam has come to light in Almora district of Uttarakhand. The name of Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee has also come up in this case. It is alleged that Bajpayee has bought land in Almora by ignoring the rules.
What is the matter?
According to sources, Manoj Bajpayee bought about 15 naali land in Kapkot village of Lamgara development block of Almora in 2021. The purpose of this purchase was reportedly to develop a meditation and yoga center. But many irregularities have been found in the purchase of this land.
Investigation has revealed that the rules were ignored to get Bajpayee’s land registered. The registration process was completed in just two days. It is being claimed that a senior politician had interference in this matter.
Investigation of other cases also
Apart from Bajpayee, investigation is going on against many other people in the case of land purchase. According to the administration’s investigation, the land of three other people can also be confiscated. 23 such different cases are being investigated.
Action in Bageshwar too
Action is also going on against four people who bought land in Bageshwar district. These people did not use the land for the purpose for which they had bought it.
Administration strict
The administration has started taking strict action on the issue of land purchase and sale by outsiders across the state. DM Alok Kumar Pandey has ordered an inquiry into the cases of land purchased in violation of rules in the district.
Land of Mumbai industrialist seized
Recently, the Almora tehsil administration seized 108 naali land of a Mumbai industrialist and cancelled the deed.
What did the DM say?
DM Alok Kumar Pandey said that whether the land will be seized or not can be decided only on the basis of investigation. At present, it has come to light that the standards were not met in the matter of land purchase. He clarified that wherever a case of violation of rules is found, action will be taken as per the rules.
