License of 9 pharmaceutical companies of Uttarakhand canceled

Action on manufacturing of drugs of poor quality and non-adherence to standards

New Delhi. The government has banned the production of 23 drug companies by canceling their licenses for manufacturing drugs of poor quality and not following the standards. Of these, 9 companies are from Uttarakhand.
The Union Health Ministry had issued show cause notices to a total of 32 companies in the country. On behalf of the Drug Controller, drug companies in 20 states of the country have been investigated for the supply of poor quality medicines. Of these, 13 are from Uttarakhand and 9 from Himachal Pradesh. Rest of the companies are from Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Delhi, Haryana and other states. This action has been taken after not being satisfied with the reply of the companies
