A fire broke out in shops and residential buildings in Nainital in Uttarakhand in the early hours. The fire was brought under control by the fire brigade but by then the goods kept in the shops were burnt to ashes.
A fire broke out in Nainital’s Mallital early this morning. The fire started in the pastry shop near the famous Shankar store shop and reached the mobile shop next to it. As the fire increased, the shops started burning smoke and the fire would have spread to the upper floor, but it was controlled. Fireman Harnam Singh said that the fire service was informed about the incident at around 3:30 am, after which fire service vehicles reached the spot.
He said that the shop owner was not present there, so the assessment could not be estimated, but all the goods kept in the shop were burnt to ashes. The fire was brought under control shortly after the fire fighting operation began. The fire is believed to have caused a loss of lakhs of rupees to the shop owners.
This pastry shop has suffered a lot of damage as part of District Magistrate Dhiraj Garbyal’s dream project of creating cultural heritage. This khadi market was recently beautified, which has also damaged its beautiful walls and paintings in the shutters. Prima facie, the cause of the fire is believed to be a short circuit. The building was under heavy threat due to commercial and hotel above it.
