There is a proposal to recruit 300 male home guards, expected to get approval from the government soon.
Dehradun. Now, after female home guards, preparations are also going on for the recruitment of male home guards in the state. In this regard, there is now a proposal to recruit 300 male home guards. The government is deliberating on this matter. It is expected to be approved soon. The main function of Home Guards in the state is to work as assistants to the police. Under this, they have to cooperate in maintaining public order, internal security, in times of emergency and in arranging essential services.
Home Guards are currently serving in various departments in the state. Secretariat and police are mainly included in these. Apart from this, they have been kept in relation to security and class IV posts in other departments. They also contribute during various fairs, festivals, traffic, peacekeeping, travel season, board examinations and elections.
At present 6411 posts of Home Guard are sanctioned in the state. More than 5600 home guards are deployed in these. The state government has recently started the recruitment examination for 300 women home guards. Thus, more than 500 of their posts are still vacant. The government is continuously demanding home guards from the districts. In view of this, efforts are now underway to fill these posts.
Under this, 300 posts can be filled in the first phase. For this, efforts are going on at the government level. It is being seen how many Home Guards are currently working in the districts against the sanctioned posts and where they are needed. After this these posts will be approved. Along with this, standards for recruitment of Home Guards are also being made, these standards will be slightly different from that of women personnel. In this, the standards of educational qualification and physical measurement can also be changed. Currently, action on this is going on in the government. It is believed that soon the issue of approving this recruitment will be presented before the Cabinet.
