Those in a live-in relationship will not only have to register, but if both of them are below 21 years of age, their families will also be informed about it. If the conditions of live-in are not followed, six months of jail along with a fine of Rs 25,000 will be imposed.
Children born during a live-in relationship will be considered legitimate children of that couple.
Many stringent provisions have been made in the Uniform Civil Code Bill presented in the Assembly regarding live-in relationships. According to the bill, every person living in a live-in relationship will have to compulsorily register. The Registrar will be responsible for registration and will also have the right to enquire. Along with this, he will also give information about those living in live-in relationship to the local police station. After registration, receipt will be given to those living in live-in. He will be able to use it for renting house etc.
A live-in woman will be able to claim maintenance if the man leaves the relationship. Courts will hear such cases. Every person living in a live-in relationship will have to inform the registrar about the break in the relationship. Besides, it will also be mandatory to register it.
Children born during a live-in relationship will be considered legitimate children of that couple. That child will get all the rights of a biological child. Citizens of any state living in the state will have to compulsorily register if they live in it. If a person from Uttarakhand lives in a live-in relationship somewhere outside the state, then he can register at the place of his residence.

● Married person will not be able to live in live in relationship
● Registrar will check the applicant before live in relationship registration
● Registrar will also have the right to call or inquire before registration
● Live-in registration process will take place in thirty days
● It is mandatory to inform the registrar about termination of live-in.
● Information about leaving live-in will have to be given to the other partner also.
● Information about those living in live-in will also be given in the police station.
● Three months jail and ten thousand fine if live-in registration is not done within one month
● Giving false information in live-in will result in three months jail and Rs 25,000 fine.
