Now illegal mining will be controlled in Uttarakhand, hi-tech checkposts will be built in all the districts.

Dehradun. Now illegal mining is going to be curbed in Uttarakhand. The department has now made preparations to stop illegal mining. The Industrial Development Department (Mining) is now preparing to set up hi-tech checkposts in all the districts. Sensors and cameras will be installed at these checkposts, through which it will be possible to know whether the vehicle passing by has crossed the road or not. Apart from this, information about the mining material will also be available according to the vehicle capacity.
This year the government has set a revenue target of about Rs 850 crore from mining. For this, it is necessary that illegal mining be curbed. Prevention of illegal mining in the state has always emerged as a big challenge. Complaints like large-scale haphazard mining outside the designated area for mining in rivers and transportation of minerals in multiple trips from the same boat are common. While the government is losing revenue due to this, unscientific mining in the rivers is also causing the danger of floods.
In view of this, in the year 2019, on the instructions of the government, the government instructed the mining department to install GPS in all such vehicles which are being used in transportation of mining material. The objective was to see when the vehicles are leaving the mining lot and where they are going, with the installation of GPS the department will have complete information about this. However, due to various reasons this plan did not come to fruition.
