China claims to have cloned super cows
New Delhi. Chinese scientists have now claimed to have created a super cow. Chinese scientists claim to have cloned three “super cows”. Super cow can give more milk than a normal cow. Capable of producing 18 tons of milk per year or 100 tons of milk in their lifetime.
Scientists from China’s Northwest University of Agricultural and Forestry Science and Technology reported that the three calves were born in the Ningxia region before the Lunar New Year on January 23. They have been cloned from more milk-producing cows of the Holstein Frazian breed. Scientists created 120 cloned embryos from the ear cells of high-yielding cows and placed them in surrogate cows.
On China’s claim, Indian scientists say that taking one lakh liters of milk from a cow can be considered an achievement in terms of quantity. It remains to be seen what will be the quality of milk of such a cow. Milk contains up to 85 percent water. If a cow gives more milk, then the amount of fat, lactose and protein in its milk decreases. In India too, a good cross breed cow gives 50 to 55 thousand liters of milk.
The most milking cow in the world belongs to the Holstein Frazian breed. Many types of experiments are being done on these cows to increase milk production. If a cow gives one lakh litres of milk, then definitely the time of giving milk in its life will be very less.
