Nainital. On the lines of the city’s zoological park, now those going to Nainapeak will also have to pay the fee at the entry gate before carrying plastic water bottles, chips and plastic packets.
Deposit fee will be refunded only on showing return of empty bottles and empty plastic packets against the goods registered in the register. If the taken plastic bottles and packets are not returned, then challan action will be taken by the department.
Spreading garbage while visiting Nainapeak, the highest peak of Nainital, can prove costly for people. The Forest Department has started taking strict action after many cut plastic bottles and foils were found during cleaning in Nainapeak forest.
According to the new rules of the Forest Department, now the people visiting Nainapeak will have to take the ticket while entering the gate and will also have to enter the plastic foil and bottles being taken in the registrar. Also, for carrying foil and plastic bottles, a fee will have to be deposited along with the entry of the goods in the register. The return fee will be refunded if empty wrapper is shown, otherwise a challan will be issued. Forest Range Officer Pramod Tiwari said that this arrangement has been started from Sunday. This will stop the spread of plastic in the forest. Also, the people visiting the forest of Naina Peak will get cleanliness. In the past, this arrangement has also been made in the zoo.
