Three day National Conference on Millet will start from today in Mussoorie

Representatives of 15 states will brainstorm on the possibilities and opportunities of Millet

Dehradun. A three-day National Conference on Millets under the aegis of the National Council of State Agricultural Marketing Boards (Kosamb) will begin today in the Queen of Hills, Mussoorie. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will formally inaugurate it on April 12.
In the conference, representatives of 15 states including Uttarakhand will engage in brainstorming on the possibilities and opportunities of millet. Will share experiences related to millet in their respective states. Along with this, future strategy will also be decided in the conference with a view to make a strong system of promotion and marketing of millet.
Agriculture Minister and Chairman of Kosamb Ganesh Joshi said that Madhya Pradesh Agriculture Minister Kamal Patel and other officials including the chairman of State Agricultural Marketing Board of various states will participate in the national conference to be held from April 11 to 13. 15 states including Assam, Goa, Telangana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir are participating in the conference. In the conference, ideas will be exchanged with a view to pave a better way to work on millets.
Representatives of Indian Millet Research Institute Hyderabad, Medical Plant Marketing Association of India, AD Ports Group and experts from agriculture sector will also participate in the conference. All the participants will discuss on various topics along with participating in the introductory program in the late evening on Tuesday. The formal opening will take place on 12 April.
According to Cabinet Minister Joshi, a detailed discussion will be held in the conference regarding the utility of millet and increase in the income of the farmers. Information about the strategy adopted by the states to promote millet production will be shared. He told that all the preparations for the conference have been completed.
He said that due to the far-reaching thinking of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a new light has arisen in the whole world regarding millet. The Prime Minister has named Millet i.e. coarse grain as Shrianna. There is an atmosphere of enthusiasm and enthusiasm across the country regarding this. He said that the State Government has started the Millet Mission in Uttarakhand.
In order to promote millet, along with declaring the support price of Manduwa, it is being distributed through the public distribution system. Along with this, many other steps have also been taken. He said that Uttarakhand will be benefited from this conference and it will be able to adopt better initiatives of other states here as well
