Three men from Bengal arrested after stealing 23 tola gold from Dehradun jewelery shop, arrested from Delhi

The artisan of the accused jewelery shop, the accused were going to Mumbai to sell gold after carrying out the incident.

The Doon police arrested three persons from Bengal who were absconding after stealing 23 tola gold from a jewelery shop located in Dhamawala market. Stolen goods have been recovered from the accused. The accused fled to Delhi after committing the theft, from where they were on their way to Mumbai to sell the gold.
The artisan working in the shop turned out to be the master mind of the incident. Senior Superintendent of Police Dalip Singh Kunwar told reporters that Ajay Verma, a resident of Saraswati Market, Dhamawala Bazar, had given a complaint of theft at Lakkhibagh police post. Told that when he reached the shop at 10 am on August 19, his artisan Somnath Adhikari was not at the shop. When he checked the gold kept in the shop, 230 grams of gold given to artisan Somnath was missing. When I called Somnath, his phone was switched off.
Police registered a case against the Somnath officer on the basis of Tahrir. Seeing the seriousness of the incident, the Superintendent of Police Sarita Dobal directed the city Kotwal Rakesh Gusain to form a team and start the search for the accused.
To trace the artisan Somnath Adhikari, the police took out the call details of his mobile number. In which information about continuous conversation was received on some numbers of Mumbai. It was also learned that he switched off his phone on August 19 near Nizamuddin railway station in Delhi. On which a team was immediately sent to Delhi. Police activated informer mantra in Delhi and searched hotel-guest houses and dharamshalas around the railway station. During this, the police team got information from the informer that on August 22, the Somnath officer was going to catch a train from Nizamuddin railway station along with another companion from Mumbai.
The police laid siege and arrested Somnath Adhikari and his accomplice Diwakar Pal along with 20 tolas of gold. During interrogation, the accused informed about the involvement of their another accomplice Rajiv Samanto in the theft. On which Rajiv Samanto was arrested along with three tolas of gold from Raja Road in Dehradun on Wednesday morning. All the three accused are residents of Kolkata, Bengal.
