Today (Saturday) is the seventh date of Shukla Paksha of Magh month. Saptami Tithi will remain till 8.43 in the morning. After this the Ashtami Tithi will start. Today, the festival of Achala Saptami is also being celebrated. This fast dedicated to Lord Surya is also known by names like Rath Saptami, Surya Jayanti.
According to the Panchang, the fast of Achala Saptami is observed on the seventh day of Shukla Paksha of Magh month. In this fast dedicated to Lord Surya, there is a law of fasting along with duly worshipping. It is believed that by worshiping the Sun God on this day one gets auspicious results and gets freedom from all kinds of sins.
