UAPA imposed on miscreants including brother of SP leader who burnt Banbhulpura police station in Haldwani violence

Abdul Malik, the main conspirator of the Banbhulpura riot, has been charged under the Criminal Law Amendment Act and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). Now the police has imposed UAPA on all the miscreants who torched the Banbhulpura police station, including the SP leader’s brother. Three outgoing councilors are also included among the miscreants.
On February 8, there was a disturbance in Banbhulpura over demolition of illegal madrassa and namaz place from government land. There was stone pelting and arson on the police, municipal corporation and administration. Banbhulpura police station was burnt with petrol bomb. On Monday, the matter of imposing UAPA on Malik came to light.
According to the SSP, an FIR was lodged against 16 people named in the case of burning of Banbhulpura police station. UAPA has been imposed on these miscreants. According to the police, the SP leader’s brother is also among the miscreants. 36 miscreants involved in burning the Banbhulpura police station have been arrested so far. The number of arrests of miscreants in the entire episode is 82. While Malik’s son Abdul Moeed is still absconding. In search of which possible places are being raided.
A youth named Albasar was injured during the Banbhulpura disturbance. He was attacked in his stomach with a sharp weapon. Three days ago, Albasar died during treatment at STH. SSP Prahlad Narayan Meena says that investigation is going on whether Albasar’s death was caused by miscreants or due to some enmity. If Albasar’s death is confirmed in the riots, all the miscreants will be booked under murder charges.
