Bareilly: Bollywood actress Disha Patni’s father and retired police officer Jagdish Singh Patni has been duped of Rs 25 lakh. An FIR has been lodged against five people on charges of cheating, forgery and money laundering.
Bareilly Kotwali Inspector-in-Charge (SHO) DK Sharma said that Jagdish Singh Patni has alleged that a person named Shivendra Pratap Singh was his acquaintance. Shivendra got him introduced to Diwakar Garg and Acharya Jaiprakash of Juna Akhara. These people, claiming to have big political contacts, promised to get Patni the post of chairman, vice-chairman or other prestigious post in a government commission.
After winning the trust, the accused took a total of Rs 25 lakh from Patni. When no work was done in three months, the accused promised to return the money with interest, but when he asked for his money back, they started threatening him.
Patni complained about this to the Senior Superintendent of Police and on his orders, a case has been registered against Shivendra Pratap Singh, Diwakar Garg, Preeti Garg, Acharya Jaiprakash and Himanshu in the police station and investigation has been started.
