Dehradun. The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert regarding rain and thunderstorm in Uttarakhand for the next three days. Taking this warning seriously, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has given instructions to exercise special caution during the Chardham Yatra. The Chief Minister on Monday directed the officials that the safety of the devotees should be the top priority during the Chardham Yatra.
Chief Minister Dhami has asked all the officials associated with the Yatra to remain in alert mode and ensure that the passengers are constantly given accurate weather information. He also made it clear that all the necessary facilities should be available for the pilgrims on the travel routes and various stops. Instructions have also been given to open the blocked roads with immediate effect at places where there is a possibility of landslides due to rain.
The Chief Minister himself is regularly monitoring the preparations for the Chardham Yatra. This time, for the first time in the history of the state, the Chief Minister was present on the day of opening of the gates of all the four Dhams. This has strengthened the administrative preparations and has also increased the confidence of the devotees. The Chief Minister is constantly communicating with the pilgrims and taking feedback, so that the journey can be made more smooth and safe.
Meanwhile, a 24-hour ban has been imposed on horses and mules running on the Kedarnath Yatra route. The reason behind this decision taken by the Animal Husbandry Department is said to be the complaints of Equine Influenza Virus. Secretary Animal Husbandry Dr. BVRCC Purushottam reached Rudraprayag and reviewed the situation with the district administration and this decision was taken keeping in mind the safety of the pilgrims. Although this ban may cause some inconvenience to the pilgrims, the government is taking every necessary step in view of health and safety.
