Water discharge in Joshimath reduced to 171 LPM

An amount of Rs 3.36 crore was distributed to 224 affected land owners in Joshimath as interim relief

An amount of Rs 47.50 lakh was distributed to 95 affected tenants as immediate relief

Construction of model pre-fabricated shelter continues on the land of Horticulture Department in Joshimath, likely to be completed soon

Land development work in progress for pre fabricated transition center in Dhak village, Chamoli

There is no increase in the number of buildings with cracks in the survey.

Secretary Disaster Management Dr. Ranjit Kumar Sinha briefed media about the work being done by the state government for relief, rescue and permanent/temporary rehabilitation after land subsidence and landslides in Joshimath town area on Friday at the Media Center Secretariat.

Secretary Dr. Sinha informed that an amount of Rs 3.36 crore has been distributed to 224 affected landowners in Joshimath as interim relief. An amount of 47.50 lakhs has been distributed as immediate relief to 95 affected tenants. Model pre-fabricated shelters are under construction on the land of Horticulture Department in Joshimath. The construction is likely to be completed soon. Land development work is going on for Pre Fabricated Transition Center at Dhak village, Chamoli. The number of buildings with cracks has not increased in the survey.

Secretary Disaster Management has informed that the initial discharge of water in Joshimath which was 540 LPM on January 06, 2023, has currently reduced to 171 LPM. In the temporarily identified relief camps, Joshimath has a total of 661 rooms with a capacity of 2957 people and Pipalkoti has 491 rooms with a capacity of 2205 people. Till now cracks have been noticed in 863 buildings. He informed that 01 area/ward has been declared unsafe in Gandhinagar, 02 in Singhdhar, 05 in Manoharbagh, 07 in Sunil. 181 Buildings are located in unsafe area. 250 families have been temporarily displaced in view of security. The number of displaced family members is 902. 39 affected families have moved to relatives or rented houses.
